Hello Kitty, Hello Teddy, and Hello Nails!

i'm still behind on finishing up my other crochet projects, but here are some of the ones i finished up for customers. i recently had a huge order for christmas, which was 12 headbands, and over $100.

she gave them away as christmas gifts!

here's a close up of the flower.

here's a hello kitty hat i made for another customer. i actually made her two. one was a child size, and the other was a newborn size. her daughter loved it!

then, my cousin ordered this 12" teddy bear as a babyshower gift for someone.

she wanted a lavender color, so thats why the teddy bear was purple.

aside from crocheting like a maniac, i was finally able to paint my nails. with orders picking up, i never had the time to really sit down and do something nice with my nails. if you know me, you would know that i never let my nail polish chip off, but because of my lack of time, i've been letting my polish chip off. yuck.
anyway, i decided to try out the magazine print nail art. if you haven't seen/heard of it, its just like the newspaper print one, except with magazines. i had a hard time getting the words to stick down nicely. i found that the pink words worked out a lot better. the tribal print & stripe print on my nails were actually shirts on models in my magazine. i was surprised it worked out so well.  of course, that was only because the shirts were black and white and had nothing on the back of the ad. which is the key to making this nail art work! i also added a bit of silver glitter over some the nails to give it more dimension.

the magazine prints definitely gave more of a "grunge" look, but i loved the outcome of the look.
if you're interested in trying it out: go  view this youtube video for some step by step instructions.

adorable dogs....

i made these for a customer a while back. she took some christmas family photos, and this one was adorable. i'm so glad that they fit her dogs so well.

half alive.....

sorry for the lack of updates on here. for the past couple of days, i've been sick in bed with a bad case of the stomach flu. i literally felt like i was half dead.  i'm just finally feeling well enough to check in online quickly.
aside from that, i've been working on my "fox stole" and my other unfinished projects. i finally decided to finish my "purse" that i started a year ago. lol i actually started it while my bf was in the hospital last year, but never got around to finishing it up because, 1: i had to do a lot of detail work, 2: i needed to sew a liner for the inside, 3: i never found the perfect straps for it.
i'm hoping to finish it soon, but with a large order of headbands i just received, i might have to put it off again.

current projects....

i've been obsessing over this knit fox stole i saw on one of the glee episodes. i loved it the first time i watched it, but after watching it again on netflix, i've become obsessed. i've been googling like crazy to try to find a crochet pattern since i don't knit. let me just tell you that trying to find a crochet pattern for this was super hard. i was lucky enough that its been a couple of years since this came out, so people actually made up patterns. still, its not the same as the knit one. so far, its coming along okay. sadly, i ran out of yarn! i'll have to buy another skein tonight and see if i can finish it up by the end of the weekend. i still like the look of the knit one better, so i might just have to teach myself how to knit just so i can make it. damn you anthropologie for always coming up with super cute stuff.

i'm also loving this jersey/lace infinite scarf. i love mostly all things lace. i already have the perfect materials for to make this.

now, if only i had ten hands and enough time to make everything at once.

yarn wreath and mani

after a whole year of wanting to make a yarn wreath, i finally had enough time to sit down to do it. it literally took me two hours to wrap the whole foam wreath in yarn. then, it took me a couple more hours to cut out my felt and glue it to make the flower. in the end, well worth the time. i love the end result. i can't wait to make more yarn wreaths.

i also was finally able to paint my nails. my crochet business has kept me pretty busy, so the only time i actually ever get to paint my nails now, is when i'm over at my bf's place. his place has now become my mini vacation getaway.

valentine's day manis & crochet updates

i finally had time to do a couple of simple manis. the photo quality sucks though, because i took them on my bf's camera phone. =(

this was inspired by whitney port's headwrap/ear warmer.  her's was a knitted one, mine is a crocheted one. very warm and great for when i don't want to mess up my hair with a hat.

this is a kimono wrap sweater i made for my niece ella. its actually a size 12 months, but since she's 8 months, and still pretty small for her age (she can still fit into size 6 months clothes), its a bit big on her. oh well, better big than small right? its always challenging to get a really GREAT photo of her, so i don't have alot of good ones to show. maybe when my sister in law takes photos of her, i can post those up. =)

monkey-ing around....part 2!

i sold my very first crochet items yesterday. all these years that i've crocheted, i've always just made stuff to give away as gifts, but when i made the sock monkey hat for my niece, a friend wanted me to make two for her girls. now, i've got custom orders coming in through friends/family. its nice to finally start getting paid for my hard work, but this also means, no real mani updates for awhile. =( all my free time will be spent crocheting for my customers.
here's the hats i made for my friend's daughters. one is 6 months, and the other is 3.

monkey-ing around....

no mani photos today. just crochet photos. i finished this hat this morning. i started it late last night. its super cute on my niece. i also made 3 other hats for my friend's kids. i still have to fix them a bit more, so until i'm actually "done" with them, i won't post any photos of those yet.
here's my niece with the sock monkey hat. she's only 7 months, so it was quite challenging to get her to sit still and look at the camera.

for the love of crochet

besides my love for nail art, i also crochet. recently, i started to get back into that hobby. thanks to my baby niece ella, who can model all of the baby gear that i make. =)  my goal is to to eventually start selling my works, but because i'm financially strapped, and any money i do have goes to buying nail polish, i don't have the funds to buy yarn. hopefully, that'll change soon.
anyway, here's my niece modeling the hat and headband i made for her:

Crocheted items & "What Did I Buy" items.......

i finally finished my crochet bib necklace that i started months ago. with everything that has been going on, i just never got around to finishing it, until yesterday.

also finally finished the baby "loafers" that i made for my sister in law.

oh, and then finally finished all the flowers which will be fridge magnets as party favors for the babyshower. it was a very long process because i had to sew in all the ends and pieces together and then hot glue gun all the magnets on. i think i ended up making about 180 of them. so, if i do have any left over, they will be given away. =)

What Did I Buy section:
i love shopping and finding cute things to wear. my friends say that i'm always too "dressy" when i go out with them, but i can't help looking nice. lol =)
anyway, these are items i bought over the week.
a black romper from charlotte russe for $16. its still a bit chilly to wear it out, but hopefully soon. i just hope that i won't have to use the bathroom alot, because that would be a pain to have to take it all off, just to pee.

bought these floral print cardigans at wetseal for $15. it was buy one, get one for a penny. even though i told myself, no more winter clothing because i want to focus on summer wear, i couldn't resist. i love floral print!

then, i saw this little shoulder bag at ny&co. just had to get it even though it wouldn't fit all of my junk that i usually carry in my purse. this was only $8.

last but not least, got these super cute black heels from the thrift store, brand new. target donates a lot of their unsold items to this particular store, so it was a great deal. only $6.
